Custom T-style guitar made by Garry Knight for Gerry Thomas. Gerry is a local client of Catalina Guitars here in Tucson. Gerry was looking for a special, but traditional feel instrument with a variety of sounds not usually found on standard tele guitars. This Desert Burst finished guitar with comfort contours and its pair of Seymour Duncan Humbuckers, fit the bill for him.
Body Finish
The guitar body is made from a lightweight, two- piece Swamp Ash block, finished with a sealer and Desert Burst nitro-cellulose finish - In keeping with the local Tucson theme.
Guitar Wiring & Pickups
This guitar is setup with two Seymour Duncan pickup - The SH-2 Jazz humbucker is in the neck and SH4 JB humbucker in the bridge position. The guitar is wired with a 5-way pickup selector switch allowing for intermediate coil splitting options as well as bridge, neck and mixed bridge and neck pickup selections. This makes for an awesome combination of sounds, giving Gerry the ability to use this guitar with a variety of music styles.
Hardware
The guitar also has Planet waves locking tuners installed. Coupled with the bone nut and modern fixed tele bridge, this guitar is a stable package that stays in tune.
The hardware finish is a mixture of chrome and black, from the tuners all the way down to the knobs.
We are pleased to have made this guitar for Gerry in the fall of 2006, and just as pleased that Gerry allowed us to show it to you.
