Pictured here with his custom guitar made by Luthier Garry Knight of Catalina Guitars is John Nutt. John wanted a guitar with a Jeff Beck style setup and color that resembled the ocean in the Bahamas where he lives.
Body Finish
The guitar body is made from an awesome lightweight, single-piece Swamp Ash block. The finish is a specialized water-based poly with opaque white and light turquoise stain. The color is a unique finish which has depth and changes with different lighting.
Neck
The guitar neck is made from maple with a Pau Ferro fingerboard. Internally, the neck has a bi-flex truss rod and two carbon fiber stiffeners, increasing stability and twist resistance. The inlays are our own design of custom "K" inlays (Garry Knight's signature inlay.
Guitar Wiring & Pickups
The pickups in this guitar really bring the package home! The neck and middle pickups are Kinman 69 Woodstock pickups. Apart from being noiseless (and we mean noiseless!), the sound from them is great. The bridge position pickup is a Seymour Duncan SH-4 JB humbucker - We also added a coil tap switch to switch the pickup to single coil.
Hardware
The guitar has Schaller locking tuners, LSR roller nut and Hipshot hardtail bridge fitted with Graphtech ferraglide saddles. This caps the package off for John, who has complained that other guitars he owns do not stay in tune. The low friction, no-trem and locking tuner setup of this instrument is hard to beat for tuning stability.
We are pleased to have delivered this guitar to john in June of 2007, and just as pleased that he allowed us to show it to you.
